Spring forward with shoulder boulders

It’s been a while!

GOALszn – the game to track workouts with friends – runs about 3x a year, with breaks in between. We took a longer break than usual from the end of the season in December, and now we’re two weeks into a brand new season. 💪 

Since then, I’ve tried the previously mentioned snack that fuels the NFL...🏈, Started Waffle Wednesdays, done zero cardio (🥶). But I did get this awesome, highly recommended walking pad to keep under a standing desk.

Anyway! A huge thank you to everyone who’s joined this season – both old friends and new faces. The GOALszn community never fails to surprise me, and I’m beyond grateful for all the forced fun we’re about to have.

Team Names: They never disappoint! Here’s what we've got this season:

Team names:

  • Lactic Acid Trip (very apropos for SF group)

  • UMD – (straightforward, we like it)

  • Gym & Tonic – (Work hard, play hard. This crew is living it.)

  • Cardio B (very apropos for NY group)

What’s New This Season? I’m experimenting with giving more team roles this time around. The idea is to make everyone feel more involved in shaping their own team and community. For those of you who’ve been around a while, you know we have a “Champions League” – only accessible to captains or season winners. We decide on rules, new workouts, and challenges in that chat.

Also, shoutout to the OGs of the longest-standing NYC team. They’ve formed a “council” to weigh in on decisions.

No, YTWL is not a gen-z hashtag. It’s a set of shoulder exercises for scapular mobility, stability, and overall shoulder strength. I kept my Michelle Obama arms (shoulders?) purely on this exercise during the height of Covid when gyms were closed. Try it out, and post a pic, vid or time lapse to the team for this #challenge.

Ev met the (awesome) founder of Pablo’s Mate - “Alchemy In A Can.” Mate is a traditional South American herbal tea made from the leaves of the yerba mate plant.
