Time to hit the gas!

Aaaand we’re back. Or, if you’re new: Welcome to your first GOALszn and Newsletter 🎉.
While the SZNs have been running, the newsletter hasn’t gone out in a bit because “life got crazy.” When things get busy, I usually try to keep some version of my routine going. Earlier this winter, for example, I had to scale back from about five workouts a week to three, even two—and they were shorter. We’ve talked a lot about this in GOALszn: any touchpoint with a routine is good practice. So I was okay with that.
But what happens when things get really intense and any semblance of a fitness routine completely falls apart? I experienced this for the first time in maybe a decade (honestly, I don’t even remember the last time), and it was super frustrating.
The answer is: sometimes you have to take a leave of absence. And when the time comes, the only real move is to dust yourself off and try again.
So that’s the plan—start again, rebuild the routine, and see where this SZN takes us.

THE ROUNDUP
đź’§ Would you pay $300 for a water bottle?
🏋️ Over five years of GOALszn, I’ve noticed more people rucking or doing incline treadmill walks/runs. Are vests worth the hype? TLDR: wearing one equal to ~10% of your body weight may burn about 8.5% more calories.
🧬 Longevity comes up a lot in GOALszn and this article seemed relevant:
When the longevity world gets weird.
CHALLENGE: Hit the Gas
Spring is around the corner. Unless you live in NYC, in which case it basically jumps straight to summer. Either way, time to turn up the intensity starting with this challenge and get ready for warmer weather.
FAKE AD! Ghost Protein Cereal

Protein Cereal: Still Processed, But Maybe a Slight Upgrade?
I had low expectations, but this stuff is actually pretty good. The Marsh Mallows flavor is a great sub for Lucky Charms, and the Peanut Butter Puffs are solid.
I am conflicted posting this. There’s growing evidence that Americans are already eating too much protein (though not enough plant protein), and this cereal is still processed food. But… if you’re going to eat cereal anyway, maybe this is a slightly better option? The sugar doesn’t seem too high.
(Relevant side note: You may be delulu if you think protein bars are actually healthy (or at least that’s what I think this gated article says)
