Howdy y’all! Now that we’re one month in–and five years into running the GOALszn community, we want to take a moment to thank everyone. I’ve been at this since 2018 and with helping hands from within, we are able to keep this going and growing. Without people who want to participate and willingly want to connect with others, this community wouldn’t exist. Thank you for your support. Keep pushing. 💪

Have you ever heard of a “Blood restriction therapy” and wearing a cuff around a muscle during exercise? I haven’t either. But that’s apparently one solution to working through a fitness plateau according to this article. It “limits blood flow to mimic the effect lifting weights has on the muscle” and allows your muscles to work smarter, not harder. Intriguing, but hard pass. Let us know if you try it.

From low-tech to cutting edge–we just caught wind of the Neurotrainer: Virtual Reality Brain Training for athletes. It promises to optimize focus, mental resilience, and agility through VR brain training. The future is here, and I would definitely jump at the chance to try this.

Sprinting into Drama

Running communities are sprinting into drama lately. Turf wars have sprung up between NYC running clubs, and the apparel brand, Tracksmith was blasted on social media for elitism by pushing a “limited edition” singlet only available to those who qualified for the Boston Marathon. Opinions are flying – some excited, some disappointed, and others finding it too exclusionary. Personally, I resonate with the sentiment that qualifying for Boston is a significant achievement and acknowledging that doesn’t diminish other’s individual goals and successes.
